IEP Meeting...

We had an IEP meeting today and the school has such low expectations for Henna. They also took it upon themselves to take out anything that pertained to Snoball. Goals that had been in place for years. They said she didn’t need the dog to have a FAPE (free and appropriate education). Naturally we didn’t sign the IEP and may go to due process. We are waiting to hear back from the state addressing our complaint about allowing the aide to handle Snoball instead of me being in school. They are fighting us big time. Please pray that whomever interprets the state laws sees Henna’s case favorably.

The school continues to try to get me to sign a volunteer form which I refuse to do because I’m not a volunteer. They said Sno could come to school but I wouldn't be allowed in school without signing the form. If this happens we will file a civil rights complaint. Henna will stay out of school too if I can't go and handle Sno. These next few weeks should be interesting. I’ll keep you posted.

I am so tired of people not taking responsibility for Henna's regression.  They want to say it's because of her operation, it's her seizures, or she just can't do it.  NOT!  Henna can learn and will!
